’17 years ago I was on board the ‘Logos’ as she sailed from Rotterdam to London. I was nervous & struggling with many fears as we launched this new & unusual ministry. As we went around Africa, we thanked God daily for his mercy & grace & for many answers to prayer. When we arrived in India I was overwhelmed with joy & thanksgiving to the point of weeping. On January 5, 1988 I received the awesome news that ‘Logos’ was rapidly sinking after running aground on some rocks. I was hit by a wave of sadness, followed by great joy when I heard that all the crew & staff were safe. Again, tears flowed…I pray that God will use the story of ‘Logos’ & her, humanly speaking, tragic end to speak to many about committing themselves to the great task of world evangelism.’ G.Verwer.(International Director, Operation Mobilisation).
